Boys and girls in grades 2 though 8 can participate in the
West County CYC Golf League. The league is broken up into
two divisions, a Training League for children in grades 2
through 4 and a Junior League for kids in grades 5 through
8. Children will learn golf etiquette, proper swing techniques,
and play 9 hole matches. There is a Spring League and a Fall
League (Juniors only).
SPRING LEAGUE
Training League: Each Saturday morning session (about 2 hours
long) includes a 30-minute team lesson followed by a 9-hole
non-competitive match at the short course (pitch-and-putt)
at the Family Golf Complex on Highway K in OFallon.
No golf experience is necessary.
Junior League: All players and one players parent must
attend the pre-season rules and etiquette seminar. Prior to
the start of the season, each team attends three Saturday
1½ hour-long instructional sessions (half hour each
at the range, chipping green, and putting green). During the
season, there are 6 regular season matches (about 2 hours
long), followed by tournaments for qualifying teams and individuals.
Participants at all skill levels are welcome. Matches are
played at Pheasant Run Golf Course in OFallon and Family
Golf Complex in Kirkwood. Tee times are every two hours, between
7:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Although not guaranteed, there is some
flexibility in rescheduling assigned tee times.
FALL LEAGUE (JUNIOR LEAGUE ONLY)
Players who participated in the Spring League and experienced
players in grades 6 through 8 are eligible to play. There
is no instruction or tournament play. League play consists
of six matches played on Friday nights at the same courses
used in the spring.
